Gesshin Claire Greenwood is the author of Just Enough: Vegan Recipes and Stories from Japan’s Buddhist Temples, and Bow First, Ask Questions Later: Ordination, Love and Monastic Zen in Japan. She has been practicing Vipassana and Zen for over 14 years. An ordained Zen priest, she spent over 5 years in Japan, training in monasteries, studying, and teaching. She holds a master’s degree in East Asian Studies from the University of Southern California and is affiliated with Empty Moon Zen Sangha.
She has worked as an educator, drug and alcohol counselor, and therapist for children with special needs. Currently she is training to be a marriage and family therapist at California Institute of Integral Studies.
